20 Ways To Stay Sane, Social & Beat The Blues During COVID-19

Rev. Jennifer would like everyone to know that this time does not have to be filled with fear, anxiety and stress; that it can be a time of self-reflection, a time to learn new things and a time to grow.

1. TURN OFF THE NEWS/ MOVIES ABOUT TRAGEDY, OUTBREAKS and PANDEMICS

Limit the news, tv, movies and searching out of information about the Virus. Your Subconscious mind can not tell the difference between reality and a movie that is meant to be entertaining. Your subconscious mind records everything you watch, listen to and experience. If you do anything repeatedly. The LAW OF REPETITION will kick in with strengthened brain synapses that will continue to grow and it can become your new source of toxic trauma build up in your mind. It will play out in the inability to sleep, nightmares and anxiety in your waking state. Your mind is very suggestible when you understand this; it now becomes very important to protect your mind’s mental wellbeing from any unnecessary negative visual and auditory impacts.  Instead focus on uplifting information such as Tich Naht Hahn,

Dr. Joseph Murphy, Louise Hay, Dr. Wayne Dyer or Deepak Chopra. All of these as amazing influencers have free audiobooks,  meditations and videos to enhance your life today and every day in the future positively.  

 

2.DON’T TRY TO AVOID OR DENY YOUR EMOTIONS

Take care to express your feelings mindfully. If You need to cry and release do so. It is a natural healing feeling. You should validate all emotions and avoid discussing worries around children.  Stress runs high especially for kids, we don’t want them to feel the panic and anxiety. We don’t want to transfer that on to them. Include kids in things that apply to them, but they need to feel safe and secure no matter what.

 

3. TAKE QUIET TIME FOR YOURSELF

Families should make time for  alone time as well as, family fun like board games to connect together and looking at pictures of good times together.  Looking at family photo albums is a great way to focus on the fun your life represents. Even using facial altering apps such as Snapchat with your family members can make new funny memories for weeks and years later full of fun laughs. 

 

4. DON’T TAKE YOUR THOUGHTS SO SERIOUSLY RIGHT NOW

This time should be a time for self reflection and peace.Take a step back and see if you are happy, what has led  to any unhappiness and make a list of the changes that may need to be made. 

 

5. UNDERSTAND ALL THINGS COME AND GO

“This Too Shall Pass” 

As a society being in Quarantine Mentality leads to feelings of isolation. It can almost be a state of mind rather than a physical state. Attitude is everything. Listen to what you  are telling yourself and saying out loud to others. If you tell yourself you can make it, I am okay right now. I am well and we are going to be okay.Your mental state will improve naturally.  

 6. DO ONE THING AT A TIME

Practice shifting your attention to notice what the senses are experiencing. Doing one task at a time like focusing on your breathing, walking up steps, drinking a glass of cold water. Choosing  to focus your attention on an action can help you move from the worries or negative mental activity that often further fuels worry and rumination.

7. PRACTICE  MINDFULNESS

Mindfulness activities like yoga, stretching, meditation and self hypnosis can decrease anxiety greatly.

 8. GET OUTDOORS AND ENJOY THE NATURE AROUND YOU

Even if you are being hit with strong Agoraphobia.  You can open a window and simply take 10 slow deep breaths of fresh air. If you are able to walk out you are blessed.Go for a walk, walk the dog or  sit out on your balcony. 

 

9. NOURISH YOUR BODY

Make sure you enjoy every bite. We practice mindful eating at our home. No cellphones,  no tv, no music.We bless our food and say grace as there are many others that are going without food. It is a true blessing to chew and swallow every bite. 

 

10. TURN UP THE TUNES

Sing out loud to an up beat song  and dance like no one is watching you. Music and singing helps to raise your dopamine levels.  

 

11. LAUGH AT YOURSELF AND SITUATIONS

You can find something odd to laugh at and find joy in minute by minute. If laughter eludes you. I recommend watching a comedy like Netflix “Schitt’s Creek” After all it’s fun to make light of a heavy situation. It’s called coping.  

 

12. UTILIZE ONLINE SERVICES

Utilize your online resources like online grocery shopping and Tela Therapy. Amazon and the mail are still shipping items. Also restaurants are offering lunches free so parents don’t necessarily have to worry about their children not eating and many restaurants are doing take out services yet.  Make a fun night of dining in on your favorite restaurant meal. You can even Light candles and make it romantic.
  

13. KEEP A REGULAR SCHEDULE

  Making things fun at home while also maintaining a schedule will keep stress levels lower during this time, especially for children who are prone to stress induced insomnia or anxiety. Your body has a natural circadian rhythm for night and day schedules. Keeping this regular is very important.  Studies have shown when a person’s natural schedule is off and they wake after 10 am have more propensity to develop depression.

 

14. GET PROJECTS ACCOMPLISHED

Paint a room, wash bedding,  dust, vacuum and rearrange furniture, fix areas of your space you feel need fixing. Get the projects done you never feel you have time to do. It will take up lots of extra time and before you know it, it will be done and you will feel better. 

 

15. FOCUS ON WHAT YOU CAN CONTROL

You can only control yourself, your thoughts and your actions! Creating stress over others actions is unnecessary.  Worrying about the state of the world is not going to help you personally and there is nothing you can do about it. That only perpetuates more anxiety for your personal energy body. Take time for self care. Take a nap. Color your hair,  trim your nails. Take a nice long soak in the tub with epsom salt to reduce toxins in your system. Enjoy a long warm shower. Brush & floss your teeth. Place lotion on your skin. This is very soothing. You can even give yourself a self massage on your face, neck, feet, calves, hands and arms. It’s good to be in charge of you!! This will give you an immediate sense of control to focus on yourself and your needs. 

 

16. ORGANIZATION

Cleaning and organizing can bring a state of calm to the physical body and calms  the mental state. When your home is organized your mind is more at rest. Start slow and easy.  One room at a time. Many times if the project becomes too expensive it can cause more stress than desired. So be kind, start with a small room like a kitchen or bathroom then after one room is done take a break. 

 

17: SAY PRAYERS, MANTRAS OR AFFIRMATIONS

Stating declarations of powerful positive heart centered thoughts is very good for your soul and psyche. Stating the Rosary is a beautiful way to Center your energy with higher purpose and intention towards connecting to God. Which can get rid of the isolation feeling. As a feeling of connection to the ALL is very soothing to your soul. Even if you don’t consider yourself to be religious.  You can still be Spiritual. I enjoy my Mala beads. Even if you don’t feel this way necessarily true at the moment,  you will start to take on that vibrational reality after 108 times of repetition. Your subconscious soul will connect with this powerful positive mantra and it will manifest in your energy and your experiences in life. Affirmations work the same way. Starting every day in the morning when you rise in the mirror and at night before bed an affirmation can powerfully correct energy in your mind, body and spirit.

18. THERAPEUTIC JOURNALING

Never underestimate the power of Therapeutic Journaling. When you write your critical mind is accessed to use motor skills I. order to place information in paper. However,  the subconscious mind is the author. When you journal you are actually removing unnecessary thoughts, worries, stressors and uncertainty from your subconscious soul mind. This is very therapeutic and can allow for RAPIDLY feeling better and having a clearer outlook on life. So get your thoughts, worries and issues out on paper.  Then burn the unwanted safely and begin writing what you do want to manifestat as positive from the Universe. After all the Universe is always listening to what you are thinking and will give you what you focus on by manifesting your direct requests. So request something better and beneficial. ASAP.  

This is called sympathetic magic or Manifestation. L.O.A.  Keep your written request with a date of 3 months fulfillment time. Documented on the outside of the envelope.  Seal it up and only open it in 3 months from the date. You will be astonished to see these things are beginning or have transpired in your life already.
